Invitation

Third World Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation will be celebrated this year on 28th October in Kuwait. This day was established by “Fairtransplant Foundation” headed by "Philippe Morel," professor of transplantation surgery in Geneva, Switzerland in association with World Health Organization (WHO).

This celebration aims at promoting Organ Donation and access to Organ Transplantation in a transparent, safe and non-profit frame.

Over the last five decades transplantation science has evolved rapidly and currently thousands of organs and tissues are being transplanted every year in the world saving patients from death or disease. As these valuable organs or tissues must be provided by human donors in the course of their lives or after their death, this has created an Organ and Tissue Shortage needed for the growing numbers of patients.

Despite the fact that this is a global problem it is more acute in certain regions of the world including the Middle East, in which there is a particular shortage of deceased donor, requiring public campaigns to highlight this problem.

Therefore, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to participate in the Third World Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation. The program includes scientific panel discussions with regional and international guests.

At the same time we will be holding the second Middle East Transplant Games and a workshop by “Donor Action Foundation” for intensivists and transplant coordinators.

I look forward to welcoming you in Kuwait.

Dr Mustafa Al-Mousawi

Chairman, Organizing Committee.
